Roll Call?
by es1882 on Aug.31, 2010, under Uncategorized
Folks, I volunteered to do brunch at our house (4922 N Yale St) this Sunday, Sept. 5. However, as it turns out, my good friend Nate (now Lazarus) Wentz is coming into town this week. I think we will probably go to Mass Sunday morning. If we do, we probably won’t get back until noon. So I wanted to see, how would people feel about moving the brunch to 1 / 1:30-ish?
On top of that, I thought I’d check early to see if people could actually make it; I see that Courtney and Roy have other plans, and if most of us can’t make it, I’m OK with waiting until the 12th instead.
Hope to hear from you soon! If it all works out, recipe forthcoming.
No SNDC?

At least that’s my assumption. I hope I didn’t volunteer to host and then forget about it, but I suspect we forgot to nail down a location last week. That’ll teach us.
If anybody still wants to host this in a snap, I’m up for it. Could someone volunteer for next week? I’ll be absent, tabling at the Portland Zine Symposium.

3520 SE Taylor St / Sunnyside Park
This Sunday, let’s plan to meet at my house and then head over half a block to Sunnyside Park for a picnic. I have a bunch of veggie burgers we can cook at my house before heading over to the park.
I am providing:
- Plates, cups, paper towels, and cutlery
- Boca burgers
- Ketchup, mustard, pickles, non-dairy cheese substitute, buns
Could everyone else provide:
- Beverages
- Side dishes
- Other condiments you may want
Also, would you all be willing to start an hour earlier this weekend?
Berry Pickin’ Time!
by Lena on Jul.31, 2010, under Uncategorized

Let’s go pick some berries, friends!
We could go to Sauvie Island…but I propose we go to Gresham/Damascus instead. Sauvie Island is always so crowded and filled with yuppies…I can’t make promises, but I suspect that Gresham will be less crowded and less yuppified…plus, we don’t get out that way very often. A friend I know has been to Thompson U-Pick before, located here. We could arrange carpools if people would like, bring a picnic lunch…
So, uh, my schedule’s a little crazy the next few weekends…I propose the following dates, in preferential order:
- Sunday, August 8th, 1pm (I have a morning engagement)
- Sunday, August 29th, at our normal time, or earlier!
- (Saturday, August 14th), anytime*
*The 14th is contingent upon whether our out of town guests, Kate and Erik (Grinnell ‘00) will want to go that day…if they do, that would be my first choice! We’ll have to call and see what’s ripe that weekend, but I like being open to adventure. Besides, whatever it is will be damn good, that’s for sure!
Thoughts? What days sound best for everyone? Cast your vote and I’ll tally up. Also, if you have a strong reason for going to Sauvie Island instead, let me know!

Also, today’s the official launch of the Cascadia website!

Picnic at an unknown location
by CourtneySherwood on Jun.26, 2010, under Uncategorized
I’m hosting this week, but I’m not sure where. Let’s meet up and have a picnic at Mike’s Sunday Parkways location, to be determined on Sunday morning. Mike will let us know where to go when he knows where to go.
The menu?
I’ll bring:
- Vegan potato salad
- Fruit – probably oranges and/or bananas
- Veggies and hummus
- Some kind of bean-based salad, to be determined.
I’ll also have a picnic blanket, a bunch of reusable plastic cups and serving utensils. I’ll buy some paper plates in the morning, unless anybody here happens to have them on hand.
If other folks can bring juice/water/other beverages, I think we’ll have a complete spread.
No-dough deep-dish pizza on 65th Street
by Mike on Jun.12, 2010, under Uncategorized
Righto, Mike here filling in for Lena, since Brian’s out of town for a couple weeks and she’s tied up tomorrow on one of her countless schemes to suck the marrow out of life.
I’ve had this kooky recipe for tortilla-deep-dish pizza in my possession since March 10, 2009. Let’s do two small instead of one large, and one with dairy and one without.
Bring something you like to drink, or fruit if you want some. If anyone’s got some cheese, fake cheese or fake meat to get rid of, let me know and I won’t buy it.
Otherwise, see you at noon 6/13 at our place: 924 NE 65th Ave.
