SNDC-My place Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Ben and I are hosting SNDC this week (1201 NE 21st Ave.) I’m currently leaning toward having citrus-ginger beets and carrots with quinoa vegetable soup (modified slightly from its recipe).
We have most of the ingredients.
For beets & carrrots just need:
1/3 cup fresh pink grapefruit juice
For quinoa soup (modified to be vegetarian, plus adding mushrooms and replacing parsley with basil), we need:
1 stalk celery (optional)
2 large tomatoes or 1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup mushrooms
fresh basil
And then it would be good to have bread and drinks – wine, beer, or juice.
Hope to see you all there.

I’ve avoided posting because I’ve feared I may need to be finishing up an article Sunday night.
My fears have been realized.
If I can make it, I’ll bring some beer. But I’m afraid I can’t guarantee it.

Is basil one of the things growing in my front yard? If so, what does it look like?
I’ll bring celery, tomatoes, mushrooms and basil.

Hi Dan – I don’t think it does grow in your yard. They’ve got it at Fred Meyer in the produce area, though.
Also, can you bring the salt & pepper I left at your place last weekend?

So, silly question: does fresh grapefruit juice mean we would need an actual grapefruit (for, you know, optimum freshness)? I can bring that, or juice, either way.
I can also bring bread, and wine and/or juice.

No problem, I’ll bring your salt and pepper, too.

I think it’s probably easier to just use packaged grapefruit juice, but we can squeeze our own if you’re feeling adventurous.

Oh, no worries, I’ll round us up some juice.
