SNDC for DINNER?

by CourtneySherwood on Jun.17, 2011, under Uncategorized

I’d like to host this weekend, but I have a conflict over the lunch hour. Would you folks be up for trying a 6 p.m. dinner get-together at my place, 1201 N.E. 21st Ave.? I’m going to be off the grid from about 5 p.m. tonight (Friday) until 3-4 p.m. Sunday, so if this doesn’t work for folks hopefully you can work out an alternative plan without me.

I propose we try this Pinto-Bean Mole Chile. Please RSVP by commenting or emailing me if you can come.

The future

by Mike on Jun.12, 2011, under Uncategorized

SNDC has leapt into modern times! A Google calendar listing future hosts, times and locations has been added to the right sidebar of this blog. Effective immediately, posts are not required for hosting (though I’d still encourage it) … but SNDC will occur at the location noted on the calendar.

If you can’t or don’t want to host on your weekend, that’s fine! Just find someone to sub for you, then make sure the calendar is correct by Saturday night or earlier. (All our regulars should now have permission to edit the calendar and also to add new editors. If you don’t have this ability, let me know.)

Seattle-based wordsmiths the Blue Scholars have composed a song for the occasion of this change to our routine.

by Mike on Apr.30, 2011, under Uncategorized

Brian and Lena are out of town this Sunday and next, which may cut into our numbers, but I’m certainly up for SNDC. I’ve been wanting to make cornmeal pancakes for a while; if you want to join me here at noon, 924 NE 65th, let me know below.

My place at 1 p.m.

by CourtneySherwood on Apr.16, 2011, under Uncategorized

I do believe it’s my turn to host. I propose we use this recipe for grains with oranges and dates, only with brown rice instead of couscous. I won’t have a pomegranite, but I think we’ll be fine without.

So, 1201 N.E. 21st Ave. I need to push it back to 1 p.m. Let me know if you can make it.

Pancakes!

by es1882 on Apr.09, 2011, under Uncategorized

Hey folks,

Pancakes at high noon, 4922 N Yale St. I am planning on using a Bisquick mix (with eggs), but I will see if I can find a vegan-y substitute in addition. If anyone has a good recipe for that, or other dietary needs, feel free to lay it on the table.

Bring drinks, fruit, etc. as desired.

Bethany probably won’t be able to join us, sadly, but we will have some special guests–Pam Marks and Todd Kimball will be traveling from Sellwood to reveal that they, too, are Grinnellians…

Picnic at Waterfront Park

by Mike on Apr.03, 2011, under Uncategorized

Ben’s under the weather today, so he and Courtney can’t host as planned. Roy suggests doing a picnic instead in conjunction with a “flower watching” (?) event he’s attending. It’s sweater weather (53 high) but this sounds great to me. It’s at the Japanese memorial on Waterfront Park, just south of the Steel Bridge.

I can bring bread, mustard, red onion, lettuce, pickles, knife, cutting board and cheddar. A few other fixings, fruit and chips would probably do it. And anything you like to drink, which we’ll do to Ben’s recovery.
