Let’s do lunch
by CourtneySherwood on May.06, 2010, under Uncategorized
Since we’re getting together at my place (1201 N.E. 21st) at noon this Sunday and I want to test my new grill, let’s call it lunch. Veggie burgers and salad. I’ll provide the veggie burgers, these greens and other salad fixings and a bread or bun option for the burgers. I’ve got dairy cheese, and will grab some vegan cheese on Saturday evening unless someone else has extra vegan cheese already sitting around. I’ve also got onions, lettuce, ketchup and mustard for the burgers. If you’ve got other toppings you like (pickles, mayo, tomatoes, etc.) feel free to bring them. See you Sunday!

I thought this recipe sounded interesting. If any of you have brown sugar or sea salt you could bring, that would be a huge help. Otherwise, I will use regular salt and plan to buy brown sugar.
I also plan to have some sort of vegetarian breakfast meat substitute, such as veggie bacon or sausage.
If anyone wants to provide fruit or beverages, that would also be a help!

Waffle Bar!!
Noon
924 NE 65th
Hi All,
We’re feeling a bit tired this weekend, so please accept our apologies for a less than original SNDC…but we thought we’d break out the waffle bar again. There will be traditional and a fancy variety (maybe with wheat flour? haven’t figured it out quite yet), and scrambled eggs, and frozen berries and syrup and whipped cream for toppings.
Feel free to bring juice or other beverages, or any other fruit you’d like.
If it’s nice, we can eat outside in the back!
My turn to host
by CourtneySherwood on Apr.10, 2010, under Uncategorized
I believe it’s my turn to host this week, so be at my place at noon Sunday, April 11. I’m at 1201 N.E. 21st Ave.
I’d like to try lunch instead of brunch: falafel sandwiches. I’ve got pita bread, falafel mix, lettuce and will get hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and sprouts. I’ve also got oranges and bananas to munch on as we assemble our food. And I may offer some plain sour yogurt, which I’ve sometimes had served with falafel at Lebanese restaurants.
If anybody would like to bring apple juice or other beverages, I think that would be a nice accompaniment to our meal. Pre-made tabouli could also be nice.
Please RSVP here or e-mail me, so that I’m sure to have enough food. I’ve been absentee for a few weeks, but I’m looking forward to seeing folks again.

Calling a retreat

Okay, so I totally forgot that I was up in the rotation until Ellery asked me about it tonight. And while I’m always happy to host, I’m thinking that at this point attendance would be low anyway and maybe we should wait until next week, April 4. I’m sorry, guys.
If anybody is disappointed and would still like to do something tomorrow, I’d seriously be up for it. Let me know and I’ll whip something up.

Impossible Zucchini Tomato Pie Plus
by Lena Wood on Mar.13, 2010, under Uncategorized
Noon, Sunday March 14, 2010
Brian and I are hosting SNDC this week, and we’ll be featuring a zucchini-tomato fritatta that my best friend Kela and I made on the mornings we played hooky from high school (to be fair, we were skipping to go to the Friday morning performances of the MN Orchestra, where a student ID could get you 5 performances for $25!). There will be both a dairy and non-dairy version.
There will also be cinnamon rolls and home fries. If someone would like to bring some fruit and some drinks (mimosas, anyone?) that would be great!
Impossible Zucchini-Tomato Pie
- 2 cups chopped zucchini
- 1 cup chopped tomato
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3/4 cup Bisquick
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Makes one 10″ pie (we’ll be making two pies!)
Pasta with broccoli, chickpeas & a shit-ton of garlic
by Mike on Mar.06, 2010, under Uncategorized
Let’s make this:

I’ll have everything, plus (of course) some garlic bread and tomato slices to cool the fire afterwards. Bring beverages! (I’m told Dan is bringing mimosa fixings.)
