When winter starts to slack its jaw
And sun no longer seems a myth,
We’ll meet to talk and roast some squash
At noon on NE 65th.
Toasted Hummus Sandwiches & Hot Chocolate

1 or 1:30 (as you like)
After some last-minute confusion, I think I’ve got it. Keeping it nice & simple, I think I will introduce you to my favorite lunch:
Toasted Bread
Hummus
Vegenaise
Cheddar Cheese
Spinach, Tomatoes, and/or Cucumbers
Dill Pickles
I am convinced that this particular combination produces what is, in fact, the perfect sandwich. Also hot chocolate in celebration of the rain. Let me know if you can make it!
Small SNDC, 1/9/11
by Mike on Jan.09, 2011, under Uncategorized
Brian, Lena, Roy and Electra are variously engaged this week, and I think Roy and I took El out of commission for a while by introducing him to Civilization the Board Game on Saturday. But the truth of the matter is that I’ll be making brunch at noon at our place, 924 NE 65th. I’ll be making eitherĀ German pancakes or French toast. You should feel no social pressure to attend! But you would certainly be welcome to stop by.

SNDC This Weekend (Sun, Dec 12)?
by danom on Dec.11, 2010, under Uncategorized
Hi Everyone,
At last week’s SNDC, Michael agreed to confirm who would host this week’s SNDC. I have not heard from him about this, yet, but in any case I will not be able to attend. I’ve had an exahausting several days dealing with some hacking attacks on our servers at work and have continued to work over the weekend to address the issues. I need some time tomorrow to rest.
Have fun if you all do meet.

Tofurkey and Salad
by danom on Dec.03, 2010, under Uncategorized
12 noon, Sunday, December 5
3520 SE Taylor St, Portland
I think it’s my turn to host again, so I am proposing a Thanksgiving redux with some delicious Tofurkey and a salad. Yes, I love Tofurkey: my Thanksgiving guests and I went through one Tofurkey on Thanksgiving day, then I went through another Tofurkey by myself over the course of the following week, and now I’ve decided to buy yet another Tofurkey. We will cook the Tofurkey with yams, onions, and celery, and compliment it with this delicious-sounding Green Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette.
Everyone, feel free to bring something or not…I think we will have plenty of food, but if you have a strong desire to bring something a beverage would probably work. I also have water, soymilk, and wine.
Mexican Layered Polenta

Noon
Another easy dish from the Sills residence: polenta casserole. Check out the recipe here–
We should be able to handle the ingredients. If anyone wants to bring anything, we’d welcome egg nog, fruit, juice or a side dish. We’re expecting a larger than usual crowd–friends Sarah, Megan and Channing should be joining us–so if you can RSVP, that’d be great. See you there!
My Place – Sunday

Update at 10:18 a.m. Nov. 14: Let’s make this a test-run for Thanksgiving dishes, with roasted root vegetables and this tempeh mushroom dish.
–
Earlier: I haven’t had time to figure out what we’ll be eating, though it’s probably going to come from the New York Times. But be at my place (1201 N.E. 21st) by noon Sunday and we’ll cook good food. I’ll post a recipe Sunday morning.
Apple squash on 65th, noon 11/7
by Mike on Nov.07, 2010, under Uncategorized
Courtney just got back into town and can’t host yet, so since I committed to finding a place I’ll host again today. This will also let Lena attend, since she’s also on call during the day tomorrow.
We’ll make Apple-Filled Acorn Squash Rings with Curry Butter.
You heard me.
And some couscous. See you at noon.
SNDC on 65th Oct. 31 (civil disobedience optional)
by Mike on Oct.24, 2010, under Uncategorized
I’m hosting an SNDC on Halloween at our place, 924 NE 65th Ave. I think we’ll have some sort of biscuits-eggs-and-hash scramble thing. Roy and Electra, would you like it at 1, or can you deal with returning to noon?
One thing we won’t have is my draft card, which after 11 years of obediently carrying in my successive wallets, SNDC helped me destroy last week in all-American fashion:
I think I may have enjoyed this more than most of us did.
Also, here’s an unrelated picture of El and Brian that I liked:
